KB and Gigi

Mambacita

The nickname "Mambacita" was inspired by Gigi Bryant, the second daughter of KB and Vanessa Bryant. KB, famously known as the Black Mamba, began referring to Gianna as "Mambacita" because she shared his tenacity, passion, and deep love for the game of basketball. She wasn’t just his daughter — she was his protégé, his hoops partner, and the future of women’s basketball in his eyes.

Gigi showed early on that she had a gift. She played with intensity, intelligence, and heart beyond her years. KB often said she was "better than I was at that age." Her goal was to play for UConn and eventually dominate the WNBA.
